MXpie Patch for WinMX is a lightweight, community-made connectivity fix for the classic WinMX file-sharing client. After the original WinMX servers were shut down, many users lost the ability to search, join chat rooms, and transfer files. This patch restores functionality by redirecting WinMX to community-operated peer caches, allowing the WinMX Peer Network to work again without altering the WinMX program itself.

I would like to add a correction if I pay. I am apart of the MXPie Team and the MXPie Team don’t support this patch to connect WinMX anymore. Yes , MXPie Patch 3.6 will still allow you to connect to the network but on its own it wont offer you any protection from any of them bad IP Address sometimes try and flood users or the network with fake files or other network attacks therefore users of the MXPie Patch v3.6 are requited to set up and configure Peer Block or Peer Guard with the recommended block and allow lists.
For lots of average users of the network this is far to much work and then users might forget to run the third party blocking software all together so we have teamed released a new MXPie Patch many users a go called the MXPie Patch United v1.0 in the new MXPie Patch we have added blocking by default. Having this feature allows us to add or remove ip addres as or when we deem it to be essential for the network and the users of the network.
The reason why you can still download the MXPie Patch v3.6 from mxpie.info is because Sabre who hosts mxpie.info didn’t want to follow the rest of the MXPie Teams direction with our new more advanced patch and wanted to keep offering the hosts file to anyone who requires it to connect to the network however when you download winmx from the MXPie Teams website winmx4u.com WinMX V3.53 or WinMX V3.54 have already been patched so all you have to do is run the installer and the set up will do the rest.
